Cancer having little impact on Fred Thompson’s support
Posted by David on April 12th, 2007
My friend Micah Sifry noted at techPresident yesterday that Fred Thompson had cancer and made the announcement first to Redstate.
Off-line we both wondered if the news would have a negative impact on the surge of support Thompson seems to be tapping in to. I just posted the following as a comment to Micah’s original thread:
An online poll running at conservative blog Redstate seems to indicate that Fred Thompson’s announcement has had little (if any) impact.
The question, “Does the news that Senator Thompson has an indolent form of lymphoma in remission affect his viability as a potential Presidential candidate?”
Results as of April 12, 9:45 AM:
Fred remains a viable candidate 21% 389 votes
Fred is not a viable candidate now 6% 113 votes
Fred was never viable as a candidate 9% 158 votes
RUN FRED RUN!!!! 64% 1,153 votes1,813 votes total
And for all of my friends who like charts and graphs (click thumb):

What are your thoughts on this? Is Thompson’s support truly deeper than a two-inch pool or is he just the latest flavor-of-the-month as Conn Carroll thinks?

Support doesn’t hinge upon a nonissue.
Run, Fred, RUN!

OK - so Fred had a medical event.
At the end of the day =
There is only one thing to say =
RUN, FRED, RUN!!!!!!!
