Democrats don’t like Republicans getting modern (before they do)

Saul Anuzis' facebook imageEarlier this week, I reported that Saul Anuzis, the Michigan Republican Party Chairman, had started a facebook profile and group to better connect with Gen Next.

Well the Democrats in Michigan have taken notice. And they aren’t happy (emphasis mine).

In case you hadn’t heard, Michigan Republican Party chair Saul Anuzis recently opened a Facebook account to “better connect with modern Republicans.” I know from personal experience that there are a lot of people on Facebook interested in politics, but lack a “connection” to the political party of their choice. By being on Facebook, Saul can directly speak to potential volunteers and allies who might not otherwise get involved in the political process.

Regrettably, barring individual elected officials, the Michigan Democratic Party is far behind the MRP in its use and understanding of online organizing tools. Zack actually brought this up today — unlike Saul and the MRP, the MDP doesn’t have a blog.

Saul may be the first…but let’s hope he’s not the last.

The future of our Party depends on true leadership and a practical understanding of the modern world. Saul is showing both traits in Michigan and it’s working.

[...] I’ve already told you how Saul is using facebook to connect with modern Republicans (which is driving the Democrats crazy). [...]
